When you are a parent, you will find yourself thinking about many different things, including the baby skin care, baby skin cream and baby skin treatment products you have been using. For those of you who want the best for your baby’s skin, then you may want to check into that natural baby skin care product that is sitting on the shelf. These natural products do not contain ingredients that are harmful to the skin. There are many parents out there today that are not aware of the natural skin care products that are out there. For those parents, we would like to share a few baby skin care tips.

Every parent out there wants the most for their baby. Parents want their babies to have healthy glowing skin and that is why they choose skin care products that give promises. The sad truth is that many of the large baby skin care corporations of today are opting for the non-natural ingredients to save money on manufacturing. For this reason, it is important to do an adequate amount of research before selecting a product for your baby’s sensitive skin. important to do the adequate amount of research before you put it on your baby’s sensitive skin.

Ever since the beginning of time, it has been recorded that people used natural products. Why does the baby industry continue to make these harmful non natural products that are filled with chemicals? For example with diapers, often times diapers made with non-natural chemicals can cause a bad diaper rash which can be very uncomfortable for the baby.

Why not use ingredients that are all natural to treat dry skin for babies? Well, you see, the answer to this question is as clear as daylight. Those products are cheaply made in bulk. Organic baby skin care products are not so cheap to make in bulk. Price is often a big factor for parents.

If you find that your newborn has skin eczema, consider using ingredients that are all natural to treat dry skin for babies. The best treatment comes by way of using the organic baby skin care products, usually found at a natural baby care company. Baby skin pimples is another common problem that can be treated with natural baby skin care products.

Even diapers can contribute to skin problems for your baby. For example, choosing the right all natural diaper for your baby can increase the chances of preventing rashes. The rash can cause the baby to be cranky and can cause the baby to lose sleep. Diaper rash cream can help calm the burning and heal skin within a few days.

When you choose a baby skin treatment that is all natural, you will find that it is far better for their skin. When you take the natural products and compare them to the modern products, you will not find as much fragrance added to the natural ones – but is the fragrance worth the harmful side effects caused to your baby in the long term? Most are unaware that the added fragrances in the modern skin care products are harmful for a baby’s skin. This is because those fragrances have typically been made out of chemical ingredients.

If you find yourself standing in the aisle debating over natural baby skin care products vs. non natural baby skin care products, then we hope you will choose the natural products as they really do offer a safer, healthier route. Natural products are something to look forward to as they will leave skin feeling smooth and less irritated. If your infant could speak right now, they would tell you just how good the natural side feels.

Baby skin care is one of the many concerns that a new mother has to worry about. Having a baby is a special blessing, but most mothers are unsure of what they should do. This is normal, and even second or third time mothers find it difficult to remember what they did with their firstborn.

Some mothers want to choose all natural baby skin care products, and will search for products that do not contain preservatives and other additives. Even mothers who are not overly concerned with skin care will still prefer natural products.

You should take extra care when you obtain baby skin care products even though most products that are found on stores are gentle. You should avoid perfumes or preservatives that may irritate your baby’s skin. Finding out if your new born baby’s skin is sensitive can be tricky. It may take a few months before mothers can find out and change what they use and do for baby skin care.

If you discover that your baby’s skin is sensitive, you should look online or in natural food store for some alternatives. Take extra care when you purchase shampoo, soap, lotions, detergents, and diaper rash creams. If you have someone else who takes care of your baby for you, inform her or him to be extra careful with your child’s skin.

Keep an eye out for dry, red skin patches on your baby. This may be caused by harmful chemicals in the lotions or detergents that you are using. Look for detergents that are mild, and baby-friendly. You might also want to use gentle detergents on your clothes because your baby will also come into contact with your clothing.

Babies with normal skin should also have gentle baby skin care products. It is always wise to play it safe even though your baby’s skin does not react to the products you use. You want to keep your baby’s skin soft and smooth. When it begins to change, it will be one of the things you will miss about your baby.

If you receive a lot of baby skin care products that you can’t use, thank the giver for the present, and donate the stuff you don’t want to a local charitable institution. This way you won’t have to feel bad about rejecting someone’s gift, and you will have helped other mothers in need.

When parents have children, they often think that the best way to care for their child’s new skin is to give a lot of baths. This is not necessarily true, but letting your child “ripen” probably isn’t a good plan either.

In caring for a newborn, there are five general products use for skin care and bath time.

Baby Powder

Avoid baby powders containing talc (talcum) and those with skin irritants like fragrances. In fact, powders made of pure corn starch (or just finely ground corn starch, for that matter) or bentonite clay are best. These are widely available and are some of the most traditional of baby care products. Using powders to treat diaper rash is common, but not helpful. Use natural creams made of chamomile and zinc oxide instead.

Bubble Baths

These are popular amongst parents because, let’s face it, having the soap right in the water sure does make the whole process easier. Right? The problem is with what’s in many of those bubble baths. Many of them contain detergents, which are bad for your skin and especially bad for baby’s skin. In fact, bubble baths have been linked to urinary tract infections and vaginitis in infants.

Lotions

Lotions (and sometimes oils) are almost a necessity with most newborns. Use natural products made of coconut, chamomile, aloe, etc. In short, if you would use it for natural care of your own skin, you can probably use it on baby’s.

Shampoos

Most babies have thin or no hair and don’t grow a lot of thick or oily hair on their heads until several months after birth. So washing baby’s hair should only be done when needed, if at all. Use a mild shampoo and never use the shampoos you use as an adult, especially those meant for dandruff with harsh chemicals. Avoid anything with synthetic fragrances, allergenics, and parabens. Instead, use shampoos with natural ingredients and that are not harsh. Until your child is older, he or she will not be taking mud baths in the back yard or smearing strange substances from who-knows-where into his or her hair. So heavy cleaning is not really required.

Soap

Be careful with soap. Most soaps contain detergents, which remove healthy bacteria and destroy the protective mantle on our skin. This is especially true of baby’s skin. In fact, many pediatricians recommend that babies be washed in warm water only, without soap, for most of their bathing. Antibacterial soaps are especially to be avoided.

Hopefully these recommendations will help you with your newborn baby’s skin care needs. Have a favorite? Let us know by commenting!

There are so many things that you need to remember when keeping your baby clean and looking healthy. To protect their sensitive skin you need to stick with gentle baby soap products unless instructed otherwise by your pediatrician. Even though you don’t want to use soap on the face of your baby, you do need to be careful to keep their face clean using wet cotton balls. For all the many baby skin care techniques make sure to speak to a nurse at the hospital when your baby is born or do some research online.

When managing baby skin care, you always want to be careful to avoid anything that could potentially irritate their skin. Most adult products use harsh chemicals that can damage the sensitive skin of babies. The safest baby brand is Johnson and Johnson. If considering other brands, make sure to check the ingredients even if it is made for babies. Sometimes you can even find all-natural baby products.

If you ever notice that your baby has very dry, irritated skin, your baby may have eczema. This is something that you need to talk to the pediatrician about because they may have some special baby skin care products to recommend. Often people have eczema as babies and then they grow out of it as they get older. Many times the best way to treat dry skin is to use either baby lotion or baby oil twice daily. With my daughter, we use baby oil after baths and baby lotion every time she changes clothes.

In dealing with baby skin care nearly every baby will experience diaper rashes. There are so many diaper rash formulas to choose from that it can be difficult to know which one to buy. Since you will likely be given a lot of samples of different diaper rash formulas I recommend trying each of them. Try one product for a few days before switching to the next one. That way if your baby has a bad reaction, you will know which product it was. Each baby will react differently to different products. Fortunately since diaper rash formulas can get expensive, you can find store brands that work just as well as other brands.

Another way to manage baby skin care is to carefully choose laundry detergents. Most doctors recommend that you use Dreft or a similar brand for the first few months. Later on you can try exposing your baby to clothes washed in other brands, but keep a close eye on your baby to check for any bad reactions.

No matter what kind of baby skin care you use, make sure that your baby doesn’t have a poor reaction to it. If you ever have any concern about your baby’s skin care, call your pediatrician for advice or research online for recommendations for sensitive skin care.

Teething occurs when an infant’s teeth start to grow in sequentially. For some babies, teething starts as early as three months and for others, as late as twelve months. It often takes several years for all the 20 deciduous (or ‘baby’) teeth to emerge. The infants teeth literally cut through their soft, fleshy gums, which is why this is often referred to as “cutting teeth”.

You’ll know your child is teething when she starts to get irritable, have a loss of appetite, starts chewing and gnawing on objects, or her gums become swollen or bruised. Other signs include excessive salivation, a raised temperature, and sometimes a child will get an earache and diaper rash. These teething symptoms usually start to show up about six months into your baby’s development.

As this process continues, you’ll soon notice that your baby loves to chew on almost anything she/he can get their hands on! This is therefore a time to be alert because a baby who is allowed to chew on objects small enough to be swallowed or anything that could break when chewed, is in danger of choking. Teething rings and other toys are a good solution to avoid this risk since they’re often designed with textures that massage a baby’s tender gums and satisfies their need to chew on something.

In situations where an infant is obviously in pain, there are doctors who recommend using an anti-inflammatory or child-safe pain-relief treatment that contains benzocaine, such as Baby Orajel. Some infants find relief by chewing on cold objects, such as a cool washcloth or a teething ring specially designed for being frozen.

In addition, you can also try to massage your baby’s gums with a clean finger. This may prove to be uncomfortable for your baby at first, but he/she will likely find it comforting after a few gentle rubs.

Some Pediatric dentists recommend brushing your baby’s teeth as soon as they start to come in and not to wait until they’re all coming in before introducing a regular oral hygiene routine. However, using toothpaste during this process is generally not recommended.

By: Glenn Cutforth

Loving parents attempt to do their very best for their baby and children in every area of their young lives. As parents, you are their protectors and guardians. Parents have the innate desire to gain as much wisdom as they can and apply it for the greatest good of their babies’ and children’s care. Come to know that your child’s baby skin care and natural hair care is a topic of importance. Your decisions in buying natural skin care products and natural hair care products can affect your child’s health. Your baby needs not suffer from skin irritations nor lose his or her beautiful natural glow he or she is born with.

Baby Skin Care Research

An current report in Clinical Pediatrics reveals that more than seventy-five percent of newborns suffer rashes within the first few months of birth. Researchers suspect that contributing factors include the very products that promise to soften, clean, and moisturize children’s skin. They note in their research, “Newborn skin is relatively more permeable to topically applied agents than adult skin. Therefore, the risk of systemic toxicity is much greater in newborns. “If parents stop to read labels of supermarket and drug store baby skin care products, they will find that:

Many contain ingredients likely to be contaminated with formaldehyde, 1,4-dioxane, and possibly even nitrosamines, all of which are cancer-causing, highly irritating or both.
Baby talc-based powders contain tiny particles that irritate the skin and may contain perfumes, a leading cause of allergy and irritation. Parents would be wise to avoid baby powders containing talc. Although baby powders are most frequently applied to diaper rash, there can be better ways. Allowing fresh air to get to your baby’s bottom whenever you can reduces the likelihood of diaper rash. Also, most pediatricians specializing in natural skin care warn parents to avoid petroleum jelly, which traps moisture against the skin and is also a common allergen. If your baby has developed a diaper rash, Baby Cakes diaper rash cream & Baby Cakes diaper rash ointment formulas take care of baby’s skin irritations gently and quickly. Baby Cream, Baby Ointment, Baby Lotion and Baby Massage Oil can relieve irritation. However a parent would be wise to use baby skin care products & natural hair care products free of artificial colors, synthetic fragrances and petrochemicals, which are themselves irritants.

Healthy Baby Skin Care

Look for baby skin care products that are pH balanced with healing herbs such as Soy Calendula Oil which has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties and stimulates cellular regeneration of healthy skin. Other baby friendly healing herbs to look for in baby bath, baby lotion and baby massage oil include:

Borage: one of the richest sources of gamma linolenic acid, and it also contains important vitamins and minerals. It is typically used in high-end cosmetic formulations to nourish and hydrate the skin. Use Borage oil in facial blends for maturing skin or in blends for damaged skin where regeneration of new skin cells is needed.

Avocado Oil: Easily absorbed by the skin and scalp. A good source of vitamins A, D and E, amino acids and sterols. Herbalists traditionally have used avocado oil in natural hair care and scalp preparations. It is very soothing and calming for skin and scalp.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E is a powerful anti-oxidant that helps retard cellular aging associated with free-radical damage. Protects the skin against UV-induced inflammation and maintains skin hydration. Vitamin E regulates abnormal proliferation of the superficial skin layers. (Vitamin E is derived from soy.)

Green Tea: is a potent extract used primarily for fighting free radicals. Green tea extract contains potent antioxidants which are intimately involved in the prevention of cellular damage.

Now available to parents are Baby Cakes Body Lotion and Baby Cakes Baby Bath & Massage Oil which is free of cancer-causing chemicals and irritants and creates a soothing layer of protection for baby’s tender skin. A gentle massage with Baby Cake’s Body Lotion or Massage Oil can be a loving experience for you both!

When using baby shampoo, a mild baby shampoo is best. Parents can recognize a good natural hair care baby shampoo by what it does not contain: synthetic fragrances, artificial colors, highly allergenic and irritating preservatives including quaternium 15, imidazolidinyl urea, and parabens. Baby Cakes 2-in-1 Baby Shampoo & Baby Cakes Therapeutic Baby Shampoo are excellent products enriched with organic aloe juice, organic green tea distillate water, organic botanical extracts and essential skin care vitamins A, C & E. This product is much safer than other supermarket or drug store products.

So what is the most sensible approach when it comes to baby skin care?

Overall, in the beginning months of life, let Mother Nature do her job without your newborn baby having to cope with chemicals. Although plain water on newborn skin is usually good bet, occasionally a small amount of baby bath and baby shampoo may be required. If so, use Skin Care Baby’s Baby Cakes natural skin care products & natural hair care, specializing in All Natural, Organic skin care, which are made with safe and healthy Natural Botanicals, Herbal Extracts and Essential Oils for your baby’s delicate skin. They avoid toxic preservatives, foaming agents and other potentially hazardous ingredients. These products may be a little more expensive than the drug or supermarket brands, however they are completely safe, truly natural and nontoxic.

Also, pediatricians recommend avoiding antibacterial soaps.

Baby Skin Care Tip

Parents, your basic baby skin care common sense message is: use small amounts of all natural skin care products for at least the first couple of months of your baby’s life. It would be best to consider this baby skin care principle when you use any other types of products in your baby’s environment as well. By doing this, your baby will have a chance for its own immune system to develop and come to be strong and healthy. I don’t believe you will go wrong with this very simple baby skin care message.

For more great tips about baby skin care visit our website:

www.skincarebaby.com

where you will also find more ideas and great award winning baby skin care products, which are wonderful for adults too!

Here’s to your family’s good health!

Diane Cuesta

Owner of SkinCareBaby LLC

By: Diane Cuesta

Your baby has the most delicate, sensitive skin there is. When you need something to help take care of that skin, and keep it healthy, you don’t want to reach for just anything. Due to the sensitivity of baby’s skin, most products can really irritate it. It’s best to go with something all natural, and perfectly safe. This is why so many mothers are turning to Shea Butter. It is all natural, safe for baby’s sensitive skin, and protects your baby’s skin from a number of different things.

Sun Protection

Too much exposure to the sun is unhealthy for anyone, especially your little one. The damaging UV rays can really be bad for baby’s skin. Also, too much sun exposure can lead to sunburn, which is bad enough for adults, but can be miserable to a baby. Shea Butter contains a natural sun screen which will help protect your baby’s skin from the sun. While it is doing this, it also keeps your baby’s skin soft, hydrated, and healthy. Rub some on your baby’s skin before you go outside and rest assured that his or her skin is safe!

Diaper Rash

We all know how bad diaper rash can be. It looks terrible, and can be really painful for your baby. Most of the time, diaper rash occurs at night, when wetness is trapped close to the skin for an extended period of time. With the acids in urine, it doesn’t take long for diaper rash to develop. When possible, allow your baby to go without a diaper in order for the skin to breathe. Also, rub Shea Butter on your baby’s skin to protect it. There is natural latex in Shea Butter which is not irritating, but provides a protective barrier for your baby’s skin, keeping moisture out. Remembering to rub it on at night will keep your baby drier, and will not allow the wetness to reach your baby’s skin.

Baby Massage

Many parents utilize the many benefits of baby massage. It is a bonding time for mother or father and baby to play, talk, sing, or laugh. It also does great things for your baby. When you are participating in baby massage, try using it to make it even better. When it absorbs into your baby’s skin, so does Vitamins A, C and E, essential fats and acids which keep the skin healthy, and other great nutrients which promote healthy and happy skin!

Shea Butter is amazing for so many different things, that it is a must for mothers. It is one of the few things that you can feel safe with, because it is all natural and safe for babies. If only a mother could rely on more things like Shea Butter!

By: Dr. Robyn Tisdale Scott

You’ve just taken your new infant home and it’s time to practice everything you’ve read about. You may feel a little overwhelmed, but once you get into your routines, common care issues will soon come easy. Some common care issues include dealing with colic, cradle cap, bathing, umbilical cord care, pacifier use, diaper rash, and immunizations.

Colic is when a baby cries inconsolably, screams, and may even pull up on his or her legs. It’s hard to say what may be the cause. Sometimes, if you’re breast feeding, it may be a sign that your baby is sensitive to your diet. It may be a sign of a medical problem – for example, a hernia or possibly an illness. It could simply mean your infant is unusually sensitive to stimulation.

As your baby matures, they generally tend to grow out of their colicky state by three months, however, you should bring the condition to your pediatrician’s attention as soon as you can to rule out a medical condition. If you suspect it’s caused by breast feeding, modify your diet and cut down on milk products. Rocking might help or you might try a pacifier. Continue to follow up with your pediatrician if the situation persists.

Cradle cap is when a rash appears on the scalp of your baby. The cause of the condition is unknown, but most pediatricians suspect it may have something to do with hormonal changes during pregnancy which stimulate oil glands. The rash can extend to the face or diaper area. The best way to treat it is by using a mild baby shampoo more frequently than you did before. Stay away from baby oils. They are generally not helpful when it comes to cradle cap. If there’s not much improvement, let your pediatrician know. They might be able to prescribe additional medication to help clear the condition.

Diaper rash is generally used to describe a rash or irritation of the skin covered by the diaper. Some of the causes include leaving a wet or soiled diaper on too long, your infant has frequent stools, or when your baby is taking antibiotics. To treat the rash, change the diaper more often, air out your baby’s bottom, and try using a zinc-based ointment, such as Desitin. If the rash doesn’t improve, contact your pediatrician.

Until your baby’s umbilical cord falls off, all your baby needs is a sponge bath. The umbilical cord can take up to three weeks to fall off. Keep the stump clean and dry. Use a cotton swab to clean any wet, sticky material. Keep your baby’s diaper folded under the cord. Pus at the base of the cord, red skin around the cord, or crying when it’s touched, might be an indication that it’s infected. Let your pediatrician know right away.

Once the cord has fallen off, you can place your infant in a baby tub. Make sure all the supplies you need are within arms reach. Try to be as gentle and brief as you can. If your baby enjoys it, let him or her have some extra time. The more fun your baby has, the less they’ll be afraid of the water. Once your baby graduates to the big bathtub, then you can add toys for him or her to enjoy.

A pacifier is meant to satisfy your baby’s sucking needs, not replace or delay meals. Sometimes it helps them fall asleep, and sometimes it helps to sooth your baby. Keep in mind they don’t cause medical or psychological problems – it’s a benefit, not a convenience. My first boy, Andrew, took to a pacifier to help sooth himself and grew out of it appropriately. Every time we tried to offer our second boy, Joseph, a pacifier, he spit it out. We stopped offering it to him. He had a natural ability to sooth himself and really didn’t need it.

Immunizations are meant to protect your baby from ten major diseases. They are: polio, measles, mumps, chicken pox, rubella, whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus, Hepatitis B, and a bacterial infection caused by haemophilus. While there is the potential for side effects, the American Academy of Pediatrics believe the benefits outweigh the risks when taking the vaccines. Generally, they help keep your infant healthy and safe from the above childhood diseases. If you have any questions regarding immunizations or their schedule as to when they should be given, consult your pediatrician.

By: Steph Burkhart

A surprising number of mothers will buy expensive lotions and soaps for their sensitive skins, and yet bathe and shampoo their baby in cheaper, chemical-ridden products.

Even those moms who believe they are being very careful about the products they use on their baby are likely not being careful enough.

An article in Clinical Pediatrics reports that over three out of four infants suffer rashes within the first few months of births. Sadly, the reason for such frequent breakouts appears to be the skin care products parents use to keep their babies’ skin moisturized. A baby’s skin, like all organs, is not fully developed and isn’t as effective a barrier against toxic substances. Natural skin care products are much, much safer than the chemical-heavy conventional ones.

The Danger of Over-The-Counter Products

Many products supposedly designed for infants’ sensitive skin are the same harsh cleansers for adults, just put in a cute package with a higher price. Reading labels to see what is really in the bottle is even more critical for your baby than for yourself.

Many bubble baths destroy beneficial bacteria on the baby’s skin. In fact the problem is so bad that infant bubble bath carries an FDA warning against excessive bathing. These products often contain known carcinogens and irritants such as formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane.

Shampoos are no better. Ingredients to avoid include quaternium 15, imidazolidinyl urea, and parabens. Of course you should also stay away from artificial colors and fragrances.

Baby powders are one of the most common treatments for diaper rash. Many moms use cornstarch, and treat rash with whipped-up egg white that’s allowed to dry and form a protective barrier.

Lotions and oils that contain petrochemicals, artificial colors, or artificial fragrances should never be used on a baby.

Natural Skin Care Products

Although most of the skin problems that babies face are due to dangerous ingredients in mass-produced skin care products, this is not the only concern. Even organic skin care products can cause problems if used excessively.

During the first year, babies do not need to be bathed frequently or even at all. An occasional wipe of the genitals and buttocks with a damp cloth is usually all that is needed. If a bath is needed, a small amount of warm water should suffice. Babies don’t sweat like children and adults so don’t need soap most of the time. If necessary, use a mild soap containing palm, coconut, or olive oil and use as little as possible. Never use antibacterial soap.

Shampoo is also seldom, if ever, needed during the first year. If needed, use a very mild organic shampoo.

Lotions that contain soothing or healing natural skin care ingredients such as chamomile or aloe can be beneficial. They moisturize well and a gentle massage can help a fussy baby sleep.

By: Christine Harrell

Baby health care is one of the many concerns that a new mother needs to think about. A baby is a special blessing, but most mothers are unsure what they should do. Taking care of your newborn’s skin is essential since this provides the foundation of healthy adult skin. Choosing the right skin care line for your child can be confusing since there are many to choose from. Ensuring the health of your infant is truly the most important thing for any parent. There is a recent trend that suggests many parents prefer organic skin care products for their children.

Healthy skin is therefore a central part of your overall health care. Babies need appropriate light creams and baby lotion applied to the skin to keep it supple and moisturized. Caring for your child in this way is more about preventing diaper rash than preventing acne, but nonetheless, it’s an important practice. People don’t often think about the need to care for a baby’s skin, perhaps because it’s so perfect. It is especially important in the first few months. Luckily, most of these early rashes are harmless and go away on their own.

Even before your baby is born, health care is an important thing to plan for. When you are preparing the baby’s room, one often stocks up on diapers and clothes, but there are some simple things that you will also need for taking care of a newborn’s skin. It is important since damage to the skin at such a young age may affect the individual in the future. All aspects of baby health care are important to have a happy and healthy infant.

All of this is a very important aspect of raising a child, just as important as that of your baby’s food. There are also certain food items that may cause some skin problems in your baby.

By: George Preston
